Maruti Suzuki unveils First compact SUV Vitara Brezza

Maruti Suzuki compact SUV Vitara Brezza: Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday unveiled the much awaited compact SUV, Vitara Brezza, at the Auto Expo 2016. The Vitara Brezza marks the country’s largest carmaker’s entry into the highly-competitive sub-compact SUV segments with plans to launch it before the end of this fiscal. The Vitara Brezza has been conceptualized, designed and developed in India using Suzuki’s global platform and engine with CV Raman, Executive Director, R&D, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), being the Chief Engineer for the project.

The Vitara Brezza is also the first product from Maruti that is fully developed in India by its in-house R&D team. The India-made model will be exported to overseas markets like Japan.

Speaking to a publishing media, CV Raman, Executive Director, Engineering, Maruti Suzuki, said that the all decisions and judgments on the Vitara Brezza were taken by Maruti’s Indian R&D team, and no validations were taken from Suzuki’s global team.

“If Baleno showed our commitment for Make in India, Vitara is our statement for create in India,” said MSIL, MD & CEO, Kenichi Ayukawa.

The SUV comes with a anti-lock-braking system with electronic brake force distribution and dual front airbags as standard across model series.

Since the SUV does not fall in Maruti’s premium line-up, it is priced competitively and will be retailed from the regular Maruti outlets instead of Nexa.

This sub-4 meter SUV will be available in six trim levels – LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi and ZDi+ – all of them will be powered by the Ciaz’s 1.3-litre, 89bhp, diesel engine. Transmission duties will be performed by a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Though, an AMT unit could also be on offer. The vehicle’s higher trim (ZDi) is equipped with Smartplay infotainement with CarPlay, inbuilt navigation with Mapcare, reverse parking camera and cruise control with steering mounted controls.

While the base variant LDi comes equipped with Bluetooth-enabled audio system, speed sensitive door locks and driver airbag protection along with an additional SUV body-kit, the optional and higher variants get passenger airbag and ABS with EBD.
